Default 2008 Volvo V70 grinding?

My 190k mile Volvo 2008 V70, otherwise in very good shape and well maintained, has a new grind. While the car is cold, for about 10 miles, it grinds when decelerating. It also gets much louder in reverse. Could the transmission fluid be low? I cannot check transmission fluid on this car, it is sealed. Or something else? Thank you
Colin

check out How to change the automatic transmission oil on Volvo S80 (2006-), V70 (2007-), XC70 (2007-) for some instructions on doing a drain/fill. At 190K, its probably time for clean fluid. when you drain, inspect the old fluid for any debris.

With that said, did you inspect the axle boots and feel for any looseness? its quite possible the noise can be a bearing or CV joint.

I have had the car up on lift to check bearing and CV, they were fine, but I wonder if it is an engine mount? I see other threads with that.
Thank you, on to the garage to change fluid.

yes a bad motor mount can cause odd vibrations and noises. Did you try (with an assistant) to see if you can torque-brake the car to make the engine move about? I think you may be able to get a view of the front mount by removing the front right tire and opening the service door in the wheel well. Sounds like a good next step to me.
