I recently bought an 2001 XC70

I had a remote starter installed and now I need an extra key for it.

So I just got my new key blank, how do I activate them with my car ?

BTW I have VIDA/DICE cable and software (not installed yet however) if that is absolutely necessary

(oh also remote starter installation triggered the srs-airbag service urgent message because during install the power to the seat belt buckle was disconnected momentarily, this can't be cleared through normal obd2 codes)

 

Get your VIDA working, but a subscription to allow you to download software, but the software for the key.

Or take it to the dealer.

 

Is there a tutorial on how to do this in VIDA ?

It came on a cd with the cable but I haven't tried yet. Is it the same software to program keys as for managing the rest of the car ?

 

Not sure if there's a tutorial out there, there might be. VIDA is the same program we use at the dealer to diagnose the car, look up repair info, parts info, perform software downloads, etc. Without a subscription from Volvo, you won't be able to do downloads, including key programming.
