Default 2001 v70cx AWD steers on its own

long story short, driving down the highway, the car will suddenly steer left or right. as if something is loose in the front end. Pretty sure i need lower control bushings, not sure this is causing the issue, what else may cause the issue? . really dont want to throw a bunch of parts at it right now. maybe a better way to describe it: It dances all over the road!

Default Suspension or DSTC

On older cars, my guess would be a bad power steering pump. It might be low on fluid, but some that i have worked on required some alignment.

But, the suspension on this car may also be causing some weirdness. Did you try to turn of the DSTC (Dynamic Steering Traction Control) ?

On the R model cars, like mine, DSTC can be temporally disabled using the control ring on the left lever. (some cars have a dashboard on the bottom of the center console)

I was curious if the car's computer had any other clues = system or sensor failures.

These models eat up lower front control arms like peanuts. They use the same ones as the V70 but because the XC70 rides higher the suspension geometry puts extra thrust into the rubber bushing which tears and fails. The upper strut mounts also wear out. I replaced both on my car at 78,000 mi. The control arms basically fail at about 75,000 mi. My car drives like it was new, 98,000 mi.
