Default 2006 xc70 p0089 code replaced fuel filter and regulator CEL still on

Hey guys thx for reading this ahead of time. My first post since 2008! Geez. Like my topic states I am getting the p0089 code so I had my Volvo dealer replace fuel filter and the pressure regulator. The CEL is then cleared and almost immediately returns. I asked about the next step and my tech tells me the fuel pressure is reading a little low and the fuel pump would be the next step.

My Volvo dealer and tech are awesome. So I trust them. They charged me $229 to change these 2 parts. However he informed me the fuel pump will not be cheap the car drives fine and has ZERO drive ability issues. BUT LUCKY ME ! I have to get it thru Chattanooga emissions. Crap! So should I tackle the fuel pump? I found diy instructions here. Thank you! OR is there another stone I should look under first?

Thank you in advanced for any advice. Joe

There is no reason to pursue any other repairs until the fuel pump is taken out of the picture. You should be able to test the pressure but most times if you are going that far in the diagnostics, just replace the fuel pump. They're not that expensive.

$165 to $195 is the price range. DIY time is about 3 hours and be careful since you are working with fuel. Follow manufacturer's procedures.
