Unhappy ABS light and CEM failure

Hello, The ABS light on my XC70 was coming on intermittently. I had a used ABS control module put in by an independent mechanic who then took the car to the dealer to have the codes cleared. The car was running fine. While it was being reprogrammed the instrument panel functions ceased and the car would not run. The dealer diagnosed a faulty central electronic module. I had to then replace the CEM. Are the two related or was it just bad luck? Also, I'm trying to decide whether or not to just get rid of the car before another really expensive repair is needed. WHat are your thoughts? Thanks!

Unfortunately yes. ABS issue can because of faulty CEM.
Any way it can be repaired. You need to find some good electrician guy.
If you find some PM me and I'll give some tips.
