Default CEM failure

My Volvo S80 2004 2.9 has CEM failure results in all sorts of electrical problems in the car. I could feel a power loss, some sort of jerk which feels like I have been hit from behind! Then the ABS and break light go on and I get a message to break safely. The Clock resets and the Dim goes off. The engine still runs at this point and I notice the headlamps switch on!! The car is hard to drive in this state. When I stop and switch off the engine it will not start until I remove the battery terminal and replace it.

The SRS and chech engine messages are then displayed.

Volvo is charging alot to order a new one and replace it, my question is if I can take a CEM from another Volvo S80 2004 and put it into mine, will it work ?
I took to a garage and they changed the fuses and meddled around some other but it made no difference as it keeps happening every now and then.

please help

Nope. It has to be a new CEM from the dealers. Can't be a used one from another car since you can not reload the software into a CEM that already has software into it from another car

Are you sure about that ?
There are many places where they load softwares into cars, isn't it the CEM they load into ?

And do I even need to if it's from the same model and type Volvo ? :/

The keys are programmed in the CEM. So simply swapping one will not work. There are companies that rebuild them and can transfer the software though.

Well there you go, there's another answer for you. I personally have never recommended to have a CEM rebuilt seeing as how it is the most important module in the car. But if you want to do that then go right ahead
