Any alternative to the stealership for an '01 key fob?
I only have the black key for my '01 XC70. My local CT stealership (used to be owned by Paul Newman...) wants something like $350.00-$400.00 for a new keyless entry, some silly charge for software/burning it in, etc.
I have a key fob from an '01 V70, but from what I've seen there's no hack or workaround on this one and I'm kinda stuck with having to pay for a new one.
Just checking, any workaround this one? I paid $2,500 for the car and sinking almost another 1/5th of the price just to press a button to get into the thing kinda rattles my cage a bit.

if you want to buy Volvo factory parts, shop Tasca Parts | OEM Ford, GM, Mazda, Mopar, Nissan and Volvo Parts & Accessories (they are in Rhode Island so stuff gets to CT pretty quickly). They can also tell you about whether you can reprogram on your own or if they can match to your VIN or if you need a tool like VIDAS... PS - I've done servicing with both Volvo of Westport and Volvo of Danbury - but only use them when special tools are needed...
