Rear brake/rotor replaced and AWD disabled message. Are they related?
I have a 2008 Volvo XC70. Runs and drives great, I love it!!
Until I had the the rear breaks and rotors replaced for inspection. Later that day I got a AWD system disabled message on my dash. The message went on and off for about 2 month (about a week at a time) now showing disabled message constant for about 4 months now.
The AWD system is a Haldex 3 and we changed the filter and Tran oil about 2weeks after initial problem. Did not fix the issue.
Is there a relationship between the rear brake and rotors and the AWD system?
thanks

brake caliper and rotor are not related to the AWD system, but there is a speed sensor on each wheel that feeds the ABS and TRACS computer that may have been nicked during the service. Next step is to have a OBD2 scan (using a tool that supports the ABS code set) to see what fault code(s) are driving the display message.

would this cause the “AWD Disabled, Service Required” message on dash?
the scan will provide the fault code that is causing the message to appear on the dash. Big box stores like Autozone will loan an OBD2 scanner (pretty easy to do - the scanner plugs into a connector under the driver's side dash, then you turn the key to position 2 (dash lights on/engine off) and follow the prompts on the scanner. Otherwise you can probably find a friendly indy shop or dealer to do a quick scan for free.
