The tailgate on my 2001 XC70 will not latch 95% of the time. You can just walk up to the car and lift it open without using the handle/release. If I click the lock / unlock buttons on the fob, and manually messing with the latch, I can get it to latch & lock....sometimes. Any ideas out there?

 

Lubricate the mechanism with graphite or anything basically....beware the mess
