OK...since I am settled on getting rid of my 2009 XC70 (Because it guzzles gas and handles like a tank), what next? Let's say that I stay in the Volvo family: I really liked my 850...It was low slung, responsive and comfortable. The next step would have been the V70, but I thought the xc70 would be a 'really great step forward'.
I may be forced, due to trade value on my current 2009...to get another Volvo. Other dealerships would not give me the $$$ that a Volvo dealership would on a pre-owned. Mine is a CPO.
So, let me ask this...What next? What years of the earlier xc70/ V70 were most reliable and what can one expect on the MPG with the pre-2009 (not the 6cyl) vehicles. I have no problem in 'trading down' to a V70...

 

Stay away from the 2001 and 2002 V70 XC.

What makes you say this? I am looking at buying an 01 v70xc with 116k miles. I have a 94 850 and love it.
