Why own an XC70?

I know it's the nature of this type forum that folks come here to find suggestions on how to repair or info regarding concerns on there XCs but, unlike many auto forums of this type, I'm not finding many, if any posts praising the XC70s. I've a chance to buy a really clean 2007 with 110k miles that's had all dealer services done up to and including 110k mile service. I thought it a good buy at $8500 but after reading this forum I'm almost sure that I don't want one due to all the seemingly inherent problems. I'm I reading too much into all of the problems associated with these cars?

The internet is full of complainers. Research any car that is 6 years old and there so be problems. Sometimes its a common problem, sometimes the person posting leaves out information, etc. Every so often I get a customer who demands that his problem be fixed for free on his 100,000 mile car just because he read about it on the internet.

These forums are here to help people sort out issues. There are more than 100,000 of Volvo XC70 cars on the road between '04-'09. Do you see 100,000 request for help? Do you see a person that had an issue with a '08 model returning with multiple issues?
You will be better off going to www.Cars.com and reading reviews from different cars that you are considering.
I can hardly number the amount of people that come here for help that have done "0" ZERO upkeep or servicing on their car in years. Even well built/designed cars need upkeep and maintenance.
I have issues with my 19 year old Volvo that has over 240,000 miles on it but I have not had anything that stopped me from driving from Little Rock to Albuquerque to Pheonix to Vegas to Salt Lake City to Mount Rushmore to Souix Falls to Lincoln to Little Rock to Cincinnati (towing a trailer) to Atlanta to Charlotte to Raleigh to Charlotte back to Little Rock and to Albuquerque again, all within the past 6 months.

I LOVE my 01
I posted a thread two summers ago how impressed I was that I could load it up and drive up the big mountains in AZ at 110 plus degrees, a/c on full and the temp needle never budged from normal and that just amazes me! I've had a few minor elec gosts that came and went. I bought it because I was impressed with the get up and go and I still like that i can put my foot in it and it responds very well.

I bought my car from it's original owner at less than half price. It would never have been my first choice, as I'm appalled at the poor gas milage on ALL the VOLVO car line since about 1990. However, fuel efficiency aside, the car is blast on the highway.
My XC-70 has a 5 cylinder dual-turbo charged engine that smoothly accelerates like an airplane (I'm an experienced private pilot). In fact, this car reminds me a lot of flying a small plane (Piper Cherokee or Mooney) in the way it responds to tight handling, easy of long distance driving, and nibble in the parking lots. The car seems to crouch low during high speed driving, because I noticed is slowly rises up while I'm fueling it. Is it my imagination or does this car have a floating suspension system?
The other thing I find very odd, is so little written about the engine or the transmission. I never found much under "Flexmatic" or what ever silly name it has. I don't know who manufactures the engine, either, but it looks more like a BMW engine.
And, having the battery mounted in the back of the car by the spare tire must help it maintain better. I am still running on the original factory installed battery. Is there something magical about the factor batteries? It's 6 1/2 years old !
