'92 740 a/c compressor inoperative
Hello! Have a '92 740. The a/c compressor clutch will NOT engage when the correct buttons on the a/c/heat control panel are pushed. If I supply 12vdc directly from the battery to the clutch electrical lead, the clutch will engage. Any suggestions? Thank you all.

Is there refrigerant in the system? If yes, then the pressure switch on the drier is faulty OR the dash controller is faulty, the circuit board in it most likely. If no refrigerant, then the compressor won't turn on b/c the pressure switch prevents it.

You are correct! It was a poor connection of th e pressure switch. Cleaning the connector solved the problem. Thank you all..........BTW....If anyone is watchin this thread, I have a new problem ('91 740 non-turbo) NO SPARK! Any suggestions? Replaced coil & ignition control module. Could it be crank sensor?
