Default Automatic Trans starting to slip badly 2001 v70 wagon

Hi all - I am looking for advice on this subject. The car has 161k miles on it and old owner said he did have trans worked on once at 70k miles (not sure what he did). I put in a bottle of Lucas last night and so far didnt seem to do the trick. I drive each day through hundreds of lights and stops so it's getting to where if i come to a slow in traffic and then press the gas, it revs up passed 2 rpms then jumps into gear back down to 1rpm. Is it worth getting a rebuilt trans and if so any suggestions would be grately appreciated. I am out on Long Island NY. Thanks in advance.

The question is how long are you planning on keeping the vehicle? Up north usually cars rust due to salt. It'll depend in the condition of the vehicle. Usually I check for codes with vida and from there I would make a final Decision. If it was my car. I would get a use trans. I wouldn't flush the used trans. Drop the pan to drain the old fluid and fill with new. Make sure there's no contamination in the lines and cooler. But used trans are like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're going to get. :P Good luck.
