Hey everyone I'm needing some input from you guys. I've got a 2002 S60T with just under 300k miles, that I commute in daily. I am also the original owner. On my way to the hardware store yesterday I took off normally from a stop when the light turned green and my driver's side CV axle exploded and I had to coast onto a side street. Once stopped I realized that my gear shifter would not leave the "3" position to go into L or Park. I put the ebrake on and looked under to see how bad it was(1st picture). The whole time my car is idling just fine with it in gear but might as well have been in neutral as it wasn't engaging. Long story short, I got AAA to put it in my driveway and this morning I put in a brand new axle. So I started it up and went thru all the gears very slowly to make sure they all worked, no problems. Then I went forwards and backwards on my driveway a few times, then I pulled out onto my street and off I went. I hit a stop sign at the corner of my street and as soon as I went to take off again .........NOTHING!! Just a whole bunch of RPMs. I can go thru all the gears and it sounds like it's going into gear but it doesn't feeeel like it. And when I try to put it back it park, it grinds. Also when I checked the linkage last night I noticed the cable connection under the air box had come loose, I'm guessing from me forcing it into neutral when AAA told me they were gonna DRAG my car up the flathead!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
