Hi I'm having trouble with the trouble code light box as it doesn't seem to work at all making it hard for me to diagnose my recently on check engine light, is there a way to get the trouble code without using the onboard obd1

 

Well, not really. The OBD1 is unreliable. Any driveability problems, symptoms? Disconnect the battery for a few minutes, this will erase the light, see if it comes back. If not, and the car drives OK, then no problem.
