Question 850 non turbo to turbo

So I have a 97' Volvo 850 non turbo base model. I was looking into swapping engines with a turbo since I know they fit properly. But then i got to looking at the engines and realized they are basically the same. So my question here is, Could I just add a volvo turbo charger or any turbo charger to my non turbo engine and change the ECU chip to the 850 turbo's and have everything work? I'm very much into DIYing so id like to keep this as simple as possible. Thank you

NO. Dude, don't do it. Many have tried and the motors ARE basically the same but DIFFERENT enough for it NOT to work. Just get a turbo and swap over your nice parts (if you have any).

Compression means the world! Na engines have a much higher compression than turbo motors. You may get it to work but it'll be starting a timer on your engine. Even 7psi will break things.
