Default Can I disconnect 850 power steering ?

I have a 97 850 wagon and power steering fluid is leaking out of steering rack
When this happened in my old 240 we were able to cut belt and go without power steering
The 850 has a serpentine belt, someone told me you can by pass steering pump and get a smaller belt made.
Has any done this, is it possible?
Thank you, Wendy in Maine

I don't think it's much of an option. The tensioner is up high, and the power steering pump is up high. The tensioner pushes right against the power steering pump pulley. If you bypass the power steering pump, the tensioner location becomes not very good.

I don't think there was an 850 sold without powersteering.

Autozone steering rack is $158.99
