Can't open fuel filler door
I hope someone can help me. I've got a 2001 Volvo V70, and I can't unlock the fuel filler door.
We've recently had some brutally cold weather, and I've encountered several quirky electronic problems--and I think they happened at the same time.
I can live with everything except not being able to open the fuel filler door.
The fuses are okay. I can't find the motor for the fuel filler door, and I don't think there's a manual release.
I'd appreciate any straightforward suggestions.
Thanks!

- I can't lock/unlock the rear locks.
- The fuel gauge always reads empty.
- The rear windshield wipers don't work.
- I can't open the fuel filler door.

I assume that it's the same as my '95 850 that has a pin that slides through a tab with a hole in it that is part of the door??? Well, I had the problem a couple of times. My door tab was putting a little pressure on the pin and would not let the pin slide OUT when the doors were unlocked. If this is the case, push in on the door a little when you unlock the car with the remote. If that doesn't work, try pulling on the door a little when you unlock it.
Either way, you should be able to access the locking mechanissim from inside the car/trunk somehow. Behind a panel or the material inside the car/trunk.

Great idea, but the remote doesn't work--I have to unlock the car with the key.
Also, I couldn't find an uncomplicated way to remove the interior panel near the fuel filler door.
Any other suggestions?

Most of the material in Volvo's are just tucked or held in place with pressing clips.
As for locking and unlocking, you may need a helper.

I have a 2002 v70 xc & fuel filler door wouldn't open from the dash button. Fuse was ok so you have to open the little door in the cargo area, passenger side, remove the 2 composite covers ( 1 pulls out the other has a clip) supposedly there is suppossed to be a stainless steel wire connected to the solenoid that opens the door.......not on my car, but I was able to reach my hand up to the solenoid & pull the plunger back and the fuel filler door opened.
