Extrended warranty for 66 plate XC90
Help! I have recently purchased a 66 plate XC90 from my parents. The vehicles manufacturers warranty will expire very early December 2019 and I am seriously considering purchasing an extended warranty for the vehicle. I would like some advice / guidance / suggestions as to where I can go to for this? I have talked to the dealership my parents purchased the vehicle from and they have said I can get a max of 2 years Volvo extended warranty from them as long as they do an 'end of warranty check' on it prior to the expiry date, which I understand. Or should I look at going for an extended warranty through another provider - Warranty Direct etc etc. I know some of the parts / labour can be expensive so I like the 'insurance' of having a warranty in place. Do you know any other warranty providers which have been good for this or are there any I should avoid? Many thanks for any help or suggestions. Caroline
extended warranties are essentially insurance policies so you need to value each based on price, coverage and service. For example, if you have a claim, who can do the repairs (dealer only or do they have a list of certified shops?)? What is covered - power train vs bumper to bumper? what are considered wear items (say you have a leaky brake caliper - is that within the warranty?). What are the terms - ie mileage caps/renewal options etc? Will diagnostic fees be covered - say you have an annoying problem that doesn't always present itself?
