Default Mobil1 15w50 synthetic oil knockage

I've been using Mobil1 15w50 synthetic since my first car(16yrs old,99 camry), no issues until recently.

In my 850 turbo at least once a month I get knocking upon startup, but it doesn't go away until maybe the next day.

I figured it is low oil pressure getting to the head, I barely take it on the highway, just mostly round town 10 mile round trip daily.

The oil level is 3/4 up the dipstick, and is 5 months old.

The same happens on my mom's S430. Knocking upon startup, quiets down after a little while, oil level is ok, 5-6 months old.

I've always used this brand and weight since the first oil change, 3-3.5Kmile intervals, oem oil filters only.

I'm thinking of trying something else for a little while, maybe you guys have inputs on what you use that doesn't cost your turbo car to knock sporadically.

I usually use 10w-30 Mobile 1 high mileage, every 5k. If I let the car sit for 2 days I get a 3 second lifter tick when I start the car. Hasn't changed in 18 months.

I usually hear a few ticks for a few millicesonds upon startup as well, worse when I used a mobil1 oil filter(got an oem filter the same day).

What do you think about putting some seafoam in the oil filler right before the next oil change?

Default oil

On another volvo site I visit the master volvo-dude suggests using only volvo oil-filters....he says they have a check-valve built into them that prevents all the oil from draining out of the upper end.

+1.

I never use non-OEM parts on a Volvo. You can get a good deal at FCP Groton (their shipping is fast) or IPD. Yes the OEM MANN filter does have a check valve in it and keeps oil from draining back to the filter.

BTW, 15W-50 is way too heavy. 10W-30 or 5W-30 should be used. For a turbocharged cars, I use synthetic oil. Also, some newer cars recommend 5W-20.
