Default Need to replace the car

Sadly, our 2011 S60 T6 was rear ended at 35MPH while we were at a standstill. We're okay, but the car not so much. My wife really loved that car and wants another. My question is, to what degree is a dealer required for basic maintenance such as clearing dash notifications etc. You see our dealer is 1 1/2 hours away and very inconvenient to get to, so to that end I do a lot of my own maintenance and use VIDA with a dedicated laptop for various things. However, I'm unsure as to what years I can use with that software or if there are other solutions than going to the dealer. I'm thinking of buying one of the newer models used, maybe 2018+. I hope this makes sense.

The stolen and hacked version of 2014d Vida will talk to cars built up through the 2015 model year. It will not communicate with a 2016+ car. Allegedly there is a hack where you can force Vida to work partially.

4th quarter 2014 (2014d) was the last Vida build that was sent out on a DVD. It was copied and hacked to work without a subscription. An online subscription is needed to talk to newer cars and to do any downloads.

Sorry for your loss, but glad it was just the car.
