I have a '98 S70 T5 on stock wheels and tires. Can I use 235/45/R17? Charts I've checked say I can use 205/45ZR17 or 225/40ZR17. Will the 235's be too wide and will the 45 height ratio effect the mpg?

 

The latter for sure. It's the wrong diameter. I haven't tried to run 235's. 225's rub enough for me.

 

Thanks. Someone has a set of tires and wheels at a great price. Been on craigslist forever with 5x108 bolt pattern but great price or not, if they don't fit they're no use to me.
A shame though as with all the mods I've done, the car is about 320 hp now and really needs wide tires

 

a good resource is wheel-size.com - You can reference the appropriate offset and rim width (both of which influence whether a tire will rub or not) as well as the recommended +1 and +2 tire sizes.
