Default Problem with front screen washer on Volvo XC60

Our front windscreen washer has suddenly stopped squirting water. Initially we thought the container was empty but that wasn’t the case. We don’t hear any noise when push the stick to squirt the water, so I’m wondering if it’s an electrical problem. Can anyone help?

I'd start by opening the hood and have somebody actuate the washer - listen for the pump (located at the bottom of the reservoir). Then look for any water dripping - not uncommon for the hose to separate at the t-connector on the passenger side inner fender. Its possible the pump or nozzles are clogged by debris - see if there's any dribble coming out of the nozzles. If no sound, leaks etc, check fuses (owners manual will help to show which). after that, you'd need to access the pump to test for voltage etc - not sure about your model but on my S40, this would require removing the passenger headlight.

Thanks, we’ve checked the fuses, the headlight washer works ok. Think we’re going to have to take it into the garage. We had a problem with reduced engine power on a trip over Christmas and the car had to go to be repaired and we wondered if that might have effected the electrics in some way.

there's nothing to the washer pump that could create a reduced engine performance short of spraying fluid on an electrical component or serpentine belt. Not uncommon for a temporary reduced engine performance issue to be caused by system voltage dips (alternator/battery issues/short circuits). Did you get the repair done yet? Post up what the resolution was.

The water pump was broken and had to be replaced, luckily the car was still under warranty
