Default Windscreen Washer Pump 1992 volvo 940s

Hi i would like to access the windscreen washer pump, when i try to get the water through the jets, a bit comes out on the windscreen but the water is leaking on the floor on the left hand passengers side down underneath the headlight area guessing tube has come off or split? Or the pump is on the way out? Any help on how i can access the pump?

cheers sean

on my 92 740, the air filter box is over the water tank and pumps, so that would have to come out first. you pretty much pull the washer tank out to access the pumps, unplugging them when you can.

if its leaking up front when you run the washers, then likely the hoses are disconnected or broken up there, you might need to replace the run from the washer tank to whereever it gets good again, its just generic euro washer hose. on my car, it goes up the right side hood hinge to the squirters on the hood. there's a one way valve up there too. most euro car parts places should have ****** fittings you can use to splice the tubes, Tee's and so forth if any of them have cracked.

As Pierce mentioned, most likely the hose is split where it attaches to the pump. On both of my 240s, the little nubs on the pump mounting bracket broke off leaving the pump hanging by the hoses. If not remounted, eventually the hoses will split and fail.

On the 240, the pump is mounted just below the washer reservoir tank. Take a look down there while a friend runs the washer. It should be clear where the pump and leak is. If the pump has broken from its mounts, you can easily remount it using sheet metal screws.
