re:sirius? seriously....how
hey ya'll......
just picked up a 2008 xc70 last night.....love it so far....have actually wanted one for years but the wifey said, "i'm not getting a wagon or a minivan until i'm 30." We'll, she turned 30 only 23 days ago, and now she's driving a wagon....hehe, i'm very persistent. And no matter what volvo says, i refuse to call my xc70 a "cross-over." the xc70 has been a wagon even before the word "cross-over" was ever thought up by some marketing genius. Anyhow, here's my issue, and i'm hoping someone can help me out, being that i can't quite get a clear answer from sirius, my volvo dealer, or crutchfield. Our xc came with the sirius prep package, which allows the owner to control the functions of sirius radio through the car's radio. We are already sirius subscribers, yet i don't want to mess up the dashboard, or any other part of the vehicle with wires, or our existing sirius tuner(sportster model). I'm am getting conflicting reports as to what i really need as far as hardware, etc. The folks at sirius said i would most likely need an aftermarket tuner, which could be purchased at best buy. They are sending me an "install card," which will cover the labor associated with best buy installing the tuner. I've heard the tuner will cost anywhere from 50-100 dollars. The folks at crutchfield said they do not have a tuner for the 2008 xc, so i'm fearing my only option is to go through the dealer. Now, the problem is, is that the dealer told me it would be about 400 bucks to get the sirius up and running in our xc......pardon my french, but there is no way in hell i'm going to pay 400 bucks for that. Anybody have any idea what i need, where i can get it, etc..??? sorry if this message is running on and on, but my mind is so fogged with conflicting answers!! please help, and remember to always wear your seatbelt, even though you drive a volvo and probably won't need it.
