It is not related to the engine. It's the instrument panel (cluster or DIM) that has an issue. I have the same. Sometimes it turns on, then all light go off and it dies. It's an electrical solder inside that causing that. The easiest is to remove the whole cluster (4 torx screws behind the plastic trim around, disconnect the battery while the cluster is out) and to send it to places that resolder what's broken inside. Depending on your location, ask on forums about who's caring such repairs, there are well known places. here's an example https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...-repair-63276/

Default Ok

Thanks, that is about what they told me at the dealership as well. Pretty much told me it would cost around $1600. I looked at other posts and it looks like I can get repaired for around $250. Now I am dealing with an a/c unit that is acting sporadically. Sounds like I may need to get the ac clutch shimmed??
