Default steering rack type

Hi, I'm new here, and I'm trying to find out which type steering rack I have on my '97 Volvo 960. I've read that there is a product information plate either on a door post or in the trunk which gives a code number, but I can't find this plate. Do I have to remove the trunk lining, or would it be in plain view? Thanks in advance.

Default As far as I can tell

Two sorts of rack- TRW and CAM. Cam had ~10" inner tie rods and TRW has ~8" inner tie rods.

I went through this lately after I thought I was on control arm but jacked the tie rod instead. Nothing like watching the wheel flop over.

Rack is leaking now- I'm trying to figure out if I can overhaul the rack my self. TRW rack, but the way.

David
