1998 s70 dies while driving, getting worse everyday
The title says it all. I recently was given an older model ('93?) that ultimately needed around $2000 in repairs. The volvo repair shop I took it to offered me a deal. Traded the older Volvo and will make a few more payments in return for a much nicer '98 s70. I took it for a test drive and was in love!!! Paperwork was signed, and in a few more payments it will be all mine.
The issue? Two days later, it died on the highway, no jolts, just kind of faded away, but then started right back up after about 1 or two minutes. Then it happened two or three more times over the past 3 weeks that I've had it. Then about 2 days ago, I was exiting off of the highway (about a 5 mile drive), and as i came to a stop it started jolting and rattling, then died. This time it was about 5 minutes before it restarted. But I got it home. Then it happened again yesterday, this time, idling at a light, 3 minutes later it restarted. I got on the highway, drove about 1.5 miles towards work, then it rattled, and died. 10 minutes later, it restarted and I made it the 3.5 miles to work. It also died within 2 minutes of leaving work last night, but made it home after a 2 or 3 minute rest. I was going to call the repair shop this morning, but they are closed today and tomorrow. Any thoughts/ideas? I would love some feedback!!! Thanks in advance!!!!
Also, I read another stream from someone living in Australia, having similar issues due to heat. I live in Oklahoma, and it is summer, about 95-100 outside this week. Could this be a factor?

The 98 is almost identical to an 850, which is very handy. There are a lot more 850 threads. We have a lot of active 'dies in traffic' threads right now, and the advice in this one is probably all good for you to read also:
