Alex, 1989 Volvo 245
Hey guys!
I'm new to working on cars in general, but I bought this volvo that was running and I figured it would be a great car to learn on. I'm looking for some help on the fuel system and its circuit.
Fast forward to me needing replace the main in-line fuel pump, I put the new pump in and soon found out that when I tried to prime it, wire casings had melted and left the copper wire exposed. The ground copper wire and the negative copper wire touched and I am assuming it shorted the whole thing. The in tank won't even spurt out fuel into the container I had underneath one like it always had during this project. I checked the fuses and found that the fuse (number 6) was pretty badly fried. I swapped one of the other fuses (number 2, same color) in an attempt to see if that would at least get electricity to the fuel system, but still no priming and fuel pumping. If it makes any difference, I don't hear the relay in the glove box click like it used to.
I feel like quite the dunce, Am I now in too far over my head? What should I begin to look for in the electric system?
