I accidentally broke my key off in the drivers side door and retrieved the piece left inside the lock. I have no spare keys, just the one broken in half key. Is there any way to start my car with the two pieces of the key? I am dirt poor and can afford no new parts.

 

what year and model? I dare ask what will you do when you get half a key stuck in the ignition lock? If you have an older car that predates the chipped keys you may be able to get a lock smith to cut a key from the two parts (I actually did this on a '73 BMW) but more likely you are due a trip to a dealer to get a replacement.

 

Cheaper to get the key replaced at the dealer than to get it stuck in the ignition...
