Default Hey what's up, potential Volvo owner soon.

Hey guys what's up.

My name is Storm (yeah, really) I'm 16, just finished my junior year of high school up here in WA state.

Currently I drive a 1991 Toyota Camry. It's a pile of junk to be honest with you.

So I've set out to buy a different car to replace the Camry, and now that I'm ready, I've noticed that I can get some decent Volvo's for a good price.

Just thought I'd stop in to a forum in case I have any questions before plunking down some cash on a car.

Oh god haha... I was afraid you would say that.

How problematic are those early S80's?

Well I'm trying to love Volvo, but it's proving to be hard. People keep telling me to look at Hondas/Toyotas but those things were ugly in the late 90's.

Am I really going to be screwed if I buy a Volvo? Looking at the V70 now...

Welcome to the world of Volvo! I currently have my 5th & 6th, an '05 Cross Country and a '93 960 wagon. You won't regret buying one, and the V70 is a great choice. Do take it to the local dealer and have it checked over to make sure the maintanence has been performed...

Default Welcome

I just recently purchased a 2002 s40 with under 60K miles. I purposely sought out this year and model after doing some research.
So far I am happy about it. Its a nice ride. Got rid of my Hyundai POS, and am selling my 2005 Ford Ranger 4X4.

Okay much better to hear the V70 is a good choice. Should I be worried about buying a used turbo? I'm not a fan of buying used turbo cars... but I'm also unfamiliar with Volvo.

I know I want AWD for sure (I ski in the winters, it would make driving easier) but I'm weary of the turbo like I mentioned before. I don't care about the extra power, but it's harder to find an NA AWD V70 than a turbo AWD V70.
