Oil Pressure light (RED) 2006 XC90 2.5 AWD
thins morning on the ways to drop my son off at school i got the ( NO OIL PRESSURE LIGHT IN RED) on my dash. i stopped turned the car off waited a few mins. turned car back on and it reappeared. i was 10 blocks from a Volvo repair shop so i pulled i. any ideas what could be causing this? there is oil in the car. AM i looking at $$$$$ or an easy fix? the repair guy says it's most likely my oil pump went out...? HELLLLP!! PS 141,000 miles
possible causes
1. Failed oil pressure sensor
2. Debris in oil pick up
3. failed oil pump
So the $$$ is gonna be based on the cause, ie if you have debris in the pick up - why?
The replacement pump goes for about $350 and some sites suggest 350-450 in labor for a total hit of $800. If its just the sensor, then your out for under $200 total.
