Just purchased a 2000 s70 t5. Got all the specs up to certification but the lhf release would not hold. I tried all the advice online to no avail. After bugging around with it I finally discovered the issue. At the end of the pull cable there is your typical stop, however, for some reason the was an additional stop made of thin steel strip coil. I realized that the coil was preventing the locking mechanism to engage because the cable could not pull back far enough. Using wire cutters and needle nose pliers, I removed the coil and voila, mission accomplished.
