Thumbs up Volvo for daughters first car?

What do you think of a 2001 Volvo S60t for my daughters first car? She is almost 18 and an has been an excellent driver. Has learned to drive for almost 2 years before even asking for her first car. It belongs to a friend of mine, its in great shape. It has 103,000 miles on it. Has had all its services, ect...even had the transmission flushed at 94,000 miles with the Mobil 3309. So there are know problems with it that I am aware. Being my daughter I want a tank around her. So what do you think. Anything I should be looking for when test driving it, I drove it today to work performed really well. All electrical seems fine. And I actually found the transmission dipstick what were they smoking when they put that there?

Welcome to the forum. I think it would be a great car for your daughter. If it's been well maintained as you state you shouldn't have any big problems. Make sure the turbo is OK and check whether the timing chain has been replaced. If it hasn't I would do that right away.

Hey thanks, I appreciate the answer. I noticed some of the forum questions go unanswered for weeks.

Of course there's a few that specifically answer when they have little to add!
The S60 has a great track record. Being a turbo, make double darn sure the oil gets changed every 3 months or 3k miles. Cheapest thing you can do to extend the life of the turbo.
