XC90 2006 2.5 transmission issue
Hi there,
We have a 2006 XC90 2.5 (180,000 KM or 112 000 miles) and notice the car slipping when going at highway speeds (gear 4 to 5). The car seems to hesitate for a few seconds.
Went to local Volvo dealer for 180KM inspection and they said that there was leaking from both the "trany oil pan reseal" and "angle gear reseal". They recommend either a "trany oil top-up and reseal" or a "trany flush and reseal" since the oil was black and burnt.
Should I bother with the flush or simply go for a replacement transmission (used) and then fix gear reseal?
Also, can the angle gear leak affect the transmission?
The car in it's current condition is not worth much.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Samantha

Low fluid can cause this and it is common for the front pan to leak. If so, it would need to be resealed and refilled. A flush isn't necessary.
The angle gear is also common to leak, but is not the cause of your problem.
