GAS PRICES!!
Approx $6/gallon in Japan ($1.60/litter). And now the gov has imposed additional tax on gasoline from this month so people lined up at the gas/service stations on the last day of April and bought as much gas as they could.
Due to the skyrocketing oil price, everything has become more expensive, including grocery. Dairy produce is among the worst.
This reminds me of the year when I was born, when people lined up and bought the heck out of toilet rolls[8D].

tax excise on Petrol, This is a real sore point here in Australia, we harvest our oil from Bass straight, but must pay Singapore Oil price's.
Our federal Gov also will give anyone a $2000.00 rebate to anyone who converts their motor
vehicle to LPG.
Good luck

yer not wrong johnpoach, gas has been on the incline for a while now??
Still like less than 1/2 the price of petrol, gas burns faster than petrol, but it's still cost wise to
convert.
good luck

To convert a vehicle to run on LPG in the UK costs between £1500 and £1700 (3000 to 3400 USD), with no government subsidy available. The cost of LPG is about £0.55 (1.07 USD) per litre whilst the cost of petrol is now about £1.15 (2.24 USD) per litre and diesel is anything up to £1.45 (2.82 USD)per litreandall threeare rising daily. However, you need to doa lot of miles to justify the cost of the conversion. My son has a Peugeot motorhome running on LPG and he returns about 20 mpg on LPG and 23 mpg on petrol with a slight loss of power on up gradients when running onLPG.
At present the fuelduty on petrol/diesel is running at about 70% with a further 17.5% VAT to be added to the total price. This is basically a tax on a tax.LPG does not have such a high rate of duty - yet, but it is now on borrowed time as it is reviewed regularly and our greedy government will not allow too many people to avoid the high rate of fuel duty for too long.
Some years ago theUK government said that diesel would always be cheaper than petrol "to encourage people to buy diesel cars because they are better for the environment". That promise disappeared into the mists of time as will the promise of cheap LPG.

Something tells me that the U.K government and Japanese government are closely working together to wring out the citizens' bank accounts[8D].
I wonder if only greedy people become politicians/bureaucrats or if they get greedised after they join the club.

As for "A wee drap", I'd prefer a nice Islay or even some Talisker from Skye (where I grew up - I even did a bit of work experiance at Talisker distillery) but I wouldn't say no to a Speyside.
Of course soon petrol will become so expensive we'll be drinking the petrol and running our cars off whiskey or even whisky.

I'll be glad once gas prices peak at $3.73/gallon in June. This, according to watching the news and listening to experts last week before the jump.
I'm not worried about the cost of driving my car so much, it's what high gas prices do to EVERYTHING else. If the US is looking for a way to start the next great depression, look no further. I'ma pessimist. Can you tell?

But the official UK inflation figure is 3%. Our glorious leader has said so and, as he is nicknamed Prudence, he should know. Gas & electricity are up by at least 15% with another 40% rise in the pipeline. Bread, milk, butter have gone up at least 9% in the past two months and I have stopped trying to work out the % rise in road fuel.
However, we peasants should not complain too much as the politicians only want a £25,000 a year salary increase and somebody has to pay for it. We know they are worth every penny - they have told us often enough.
