Today, I adjusted the driver's door and managed to adjust the lock so that it now will open very easily. It took a bit of tweeking the verticle lock rod and making a shim for the striker plate to make this happen. Now it is "butter smooth", Functions like a new one now!

Going outside to drop and clean the tank. Check fuel pump (in tank of course) and reinstalling. Might take care of all the vacuum hoses too.

Note to others.

I just bought this car and it's insanely making me mad. Kinda makes me glad I bought it though. It's my first volvo and for some reason I bought a rare (for the US) one. That's ok though. I am now looking for an older wagon to have fun with. (BIG chevy motor install)

Traded in my 2000 S80 T6 for a KIA Soul+. The S80 had about 300,000 miles and a bad tranny, idle issues, alarm inop, ABS failures among other things wrong. Thanks for all the advice I got here on how to repair things. So I must bid farewell until I get another Volvo--doubtful!!!

Shipping was faster than last time - emailed me that it was sent within hours of ordering and came in 3 days. Been using the neoform wiper blades for years and they installed easily and are smooth and quiet. Sent me a flyer on some upgrade headlights from their new store headlights123. Gonna order new low/high beams... Stay tuned.

New driveshafts, new brake fluid (it was black) and a new front windscreen.....and also removed the thermal cut out on my headlight wipers so they wipe more than half a sweep before stopping.

Cleaned up the cargo matt that I got from the jy for $7. The stealer charges $180 for those things. It still had the pn on it.

Ordered the SOLUX upgrade headlights for low beam, high beam and fogs on the Volvo. Headlights123 has same customer service at Wipers123 - order was shipped within hours of placing it and the bulbs got to me in 3 days. The bulbs look quality but haven't installed them yet. My project this weekend is to swap out all the bulbs...thank god its finally going to be warm in WI. Stay tuned...

did a quick inspection of my 89 Jeep Cherokee (Jeepr), found a few rust holes, broken bushings, and the water leak (from rain water drainage)....won't pass inspection as it is now...6 months till inspection.

I think I will start keeping my eyes pealed for a Volvo!

Installed the variable intermittent wiper relay (thanks to rspi), colour coded the mirror backings to match the car, put treatment on the leather seats.

Default V50 2.0 D Sport - fun drive

I started my car this morning by pushing it with my girlfriend inside to bump start the motor, then after ten minutes saw a POWER SYSTEM SERVICE URGENT notification...then 5 minutes after had my ABS light come on and then another five minutes after that my airbag light come on and lost my power steering.

So I had a fun drive to the Volvo garage, 10 minutes of handling a car without assisted steering is fun especially on the slow tight corners... (on the bright side I dont have to work on my arms in the gym tonight)

I have a feeling its the alternator/wiring/battery problem that I have read a few threads on here about. It isn't the starter as I replaced that with a new one this weekend in the hope that it would solve my problems...

I have to admit that this car has been an absolute money pit. We all have to own one once in a life time.

A happy start to the week

- Replaced the dash pad. If somone needs a good one let me know. Mine was not perfect so I changed it with one that is close to perfect.

- Replaced the plastic on the drivers door pull.

- Replaced a trim piece at the center rear head rest.

- Drained and refilled the tranny (cold).

- Tried to replace the bumper mounts only to break the bolt off. Round 2 tomorrow.

Picked up a couple of bolts for my rear bumper brackets. I pulled about 5 from the local jy and every one I pulled had water come out of them. I'm thinking there may be a design flaw.

I also picked up a back seat trim piece that goes through the head rest and seat belt. Volvo NO LONGER carries the part. I took that part loose from the car a week or so ago and was about to break it and decided not to for the next guy. Yikes!!! I am the next guy.

Did the 2nd tranny drain and refill. This time it looked a lot better. I had a used tranny installed about 7 months ago (8,000 miles). This is the first tranny fluid change I have decided to do. I started to do one at 5k but just put if off a little. The first fluid drain was pretty scary. The bolt was covered with the metalic flet particles and the fluid was milky, thick and full of felt as well. This second drain looked a lot better, 100 miles later and nothing on the bolt. The fluid was a lot cleaner but still a little dark. I'll do another drain in a few days (another 100 miles).

Cleaned out the back end and installed the plastic cargo mat that I got from the jy.
