Just had a new clutch put in my 1984 240 DL. It occasionally pops out of gear in 2nd and 4th. It seems to pop out of 2nd at the top end of the range when I stop accelerating. It pops out of 4th when I head downhill or decelerate. It does not do this all of the time but several times a week. Is there an adjustment to correct this--other than using a screen-door spring?

 

I'm pretty sure popping out of gear is a sign your synchros are badly worn.

 

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought bad Synchronizers would cause grinding and difficulty in shifting. I have a smooth shift and all goes fine until deceleration and then pops out in only 2nd and 4th. Any other ideas?
