Default 1984 Volvo 244 GL ac no working

The car has been sitting for 15 years and isn't blowing cold I know it needs to be recharged but I'm not sure where to it how to, I called local shops but they claim " the car is to old"
the compressor has 2 black removable caps that looks like tire valve stems, and when I turn the switch on the idle goes up alittle but the ac really isn't kicking on, please help its getting hot out here 🤣.

I could barely get a picture but here's it...

A 1984 Volvo used r 12 refrigerant. Production of that gas was stopped in the late 1980's and all cars were switched to r 134. R 134 is not a direct replacement for r12. You system may have been converted to 134 at some point which does not cool as well as r 12 (with the ac design your car has) - so it's possible the system could be simply re-charged - then it would be a matter of how fast the new gas leaks out.

First you will have to find someone willing to work on a 40 year old Volvo ac system - I would not get my hopes up for cold air from your 40 year old Volvo.

There are some R12 substitutes being sold, no conversion needed. Envirosafe is one of those. Ebay has listings. I used something similar, don't recall the name, some years ago on my '92 940 and it worked OK for several years. The biggest problem with any A/C system is leaks. It's a pressurized system and once it's not tight the resulting intrusion ruins the compressor and other parts.
