Default 1986 240 DL Oil Trap question

Hey I just recently bought a 1986 Volvo 240 DL in Rancho Cucamonga,CA for $1300. The body is in near perfect condition and engine sounds good. I bought it off a mechanic that wasn't to knowledge about Volvos. He told me he kept replacing the seals and the car kept leaking. I checked out the a Flame Trap it was completely clogged and I would guess The Oil trap/ Breather box is too. There is a 93 volvo 240 wagon at a salvage yard that had a new volvo oem oil trap in it but it looks different from my 86. Just wondering if it will still fit? The model on mine says #1306398 and this one says #3501160 they both have the same B230F engines I wondering if I could use it, The Salvage is willing to sell it for $15 to me which is a deal. Thanks

Have you removed the box from your 86? If not, I have read several posts that suggest spraying carb cleaner/brake cleaner into the breather box and let the sludge fall into the oil pan. At this point, of course, you'd have to change your oil.

Someone correct me if that's not a viable option, but I have read it here and other Volvo forums.

Default Nope

Can't swap them, sorry. Best bet is to clean the one you have. Do NOT buy an aftermarket one.
