1987 740 GLE driver-side windshield wiper not working
Hello again!
As the title says, when I press the lever to use my windshield wipers, the driver's side unit does not work. This will be the first time I do any sort of work or fix to the vehicle. As such, I'm a bit unsure of how to proceed. I'm going to start by looking directly at the wiper arm. Maybe it's disconnected from the motor, especially if I tried to turn it on one day and it was frozen in place.
Does anyone have any advice on how I should proceed after that inspection? Are there other areas I should look at? I haven't purchased or downloaded any repair manuals yet, but will probably begin the search through the forum and the internet later on today after I inspect the wiper arm.

After spending some time with it, I'm pretty sure the bolt is not loose. Also, it's getting some power. As the passenger wiper moves back and forth, the driver's unit twitches a little, like it's stuck or the motor is weak/bad.
If it twitches means that it is connected... may be the arm is stripped. It is the same motor operating both arms so if one is working well that eliminates a motor problem. If you forced the arm when frozen, may be you stripped it... Start by tightening the 13mm nut holding the arm down.
So it turns out the arm bolt WAS loose. I had been using a pair of pliers with poor grip on the nut, which falsely led to my thinking it was tight. Properly using a fully seated wrench let me tighten it quite a bit. After that, it was working fine. I appreciate both of you for the assist. I need to work on being more thorough.
