Default 1988 240 heater motor replacement

I'm new to the forum and need some handholding with this project. I'm trying to replace a very noisy heater/blower motor,a job I've done on other cars without much trouble. However,on my '88 240DL wagon after much disassembly it looks like I will have to discharge the AC and disconnect the evaporator as well as the heater core and all the ducts and then remove the entire heater assembly. Can this be?Will it even fit out from under the dash?Any advice or encouragement will be appreciated
Thanks , Jeff Hall, Nahant,MA

It can be done in the Car. You need to remove the end covers to access the Fan Blades. Then remove them and you will see the screws to remove the motor.

It can be done, it is a bear! Most things are easy on a volvo, this one isn't.
