Default 1988 Volvo 240 motor mounts

Hello. I recently bought a 88 240 with a 2.3 engine and auto tranny. The car has been running ok for the month that I've had it besides some small tranny issues now i looked to do an oil change but it seems that all mounts are bad and the oil filter is actually sitting on the right motor mount, and seems like this is what might be holding up the engine from this side of the car. So my question is how big of a project is this going to be and is there any known issues that I will run into? Thanks in advance for the help

pretty easy to do. two mounts on the motor, and the one everyone neglects, the mount on the top back of the transmission. this last one is harder to replace.

should be plenty of 'how-tos' on the net. google 'volvo 240 engine mount replacement' and I bet 20 pop up the trick is to put a jack under the engine and gently lift it enough to get at the one you're replacing first, then when that one is secured, repeat to do the other one. IIRC (been a long long time), you have to take a crossbar out to do the tranny one, but confirm this with someone's HOWTO.

To give you an idea of the labor involved, Chilton's calls for an hour per mount, roughly. Our labor rate is $80 an hour so you're looking at $240 plus parts. It's straight forward, dirty work but totally doable on jack stands. Most folks find it easier to remove the mount and bracket together as the block mount bolts are much easier to access. DON'T jack the motor up oil pan.
