1990 Volvo 240Dl starting problem
Okay. So I have now cleaned the throttle body, the maf and got new spark plugs, replaced the fuel pressure regulator, and found an oil leak, I checked the pump in the trunk and i can hear it going, I checked the coolant temp sensor and I checked the fuel injectors and they all seem to be good. The car did start up after I cleaned the intake and maf, after a few good trys of almost not starting or starting and dying, I'm going to replace the fuel filter and check the fuel pump underneath next week but I believe the cars pumps were fine because before I changed the fuel pressure regulator I could smell gas pretty heavy in the engine bay, I'm not 100 % sure though if the little but of gas that was getting through the weak pump could of been leaking through the fuel pressure regulator, ? Not sure. But the car did start up and while it was on I checked the injectors and spark on the distributor.
I checked the codes before clearing them and then shutting the car off when I cleared the codes and started it back up it seemed to start better and run a little cleaner. (does having codes affect the way the engine runs? ) new to this and dont know much but using all the resources I can to start learning on my own, the codes before I cleared them were
1-4-4
2-3-2
1-1-3
if anyone has any other ideas and input I would appreciate them, my next step is to get a new fuel filter and I honestly might just buy a new pump for underneath while I'm at it, im also going to fix the oil leak by replacing the oil separator box.
