1994 with a 240 engine?
I just purchased a 1994 940 wagon and found it to have the distributor on the front drivers side...like the 240's have. All other 740's and 940's I've seen have the distributor on the cylinder head.
A friend tells me the 940 came like that? He's not my best source of Volvo knowledge, so I ask the group here.
Thanks in advance,
Vic

Is it possible for the car not to be a US version? I.e, to have started life in Europe or elsewhere? This may explain it... Check the vin #, run a carfax or autocheck on it... Car buyers in Europe especially have always had much bigger choice than in the US. BTW, the Regina cars have the distributors in the head, so does the L block..

Later cars were seen w/ the block mounted dizzys. I've seen 'em here in the shop so they def made it to the US. I believe all blocks beginning in 93 had piston oil squirters so they were all L blocks. My motor is from a 94 940T, is marked L block, and had a cam mounted dizzy...but I fixed it!
I don't think the late block mounted distributors were ever used on turbo applications, and as far as I know, they were only used with Regina ignition systems. Sorry I wasn't clear earlier, not all Regina ignitions are block mounted, but I'm pretty sure all Bosch are camshaft mounted.
It non turbo, US spec. and it does have the square boxy Regina coil. I also have a "parts" 940 that has the Regina coil, but it has the distributor on the cylinder head.
Thanks for the inputs.
