. Hi. bringing a 1995 volvo 940 back to life . minor fender bender on the pass side front. I notice the pass side bumper was sticking up about 1/2 inch. Fix by adjusting bumper mounting bolts. but now the bumper is push back and it looks like the impact shock is distorted. Any ideas. do I need to replace it or use a bigger hammer. There is a noticeable difference between the left and right side impact shocks. thanks

 

Better replace it. I have in the past manhandled those things but they are under pressure so that's not recommended... Yours looks pretty mangled--doubt you'll get it to fit right.

 

With that thickness of metal you can try to bend it back but you'd be safer to just replace it.

 

thanks for the replies. The bumper seems to be straight. Only damage is to the bumper cover. you can see the the absorber was push in pretty good, all of the paper decal is scrape. I will have to replace it because that piston will not move. I guess it's only good for one and done hit. Anybody have any laying around?
