Default 240 and 740 wagons -- tire sizes

Tire size on my '86 240 wagon is 195/70R-14.
Tire size on a certain '90 740 wagon that I might acquire is 185/65R-14.

Is the bolt pattern the same? And if so, is there any reason I can't switch out the tires and wheels (keeping all tires on their current wheels) as between the two vehicles?

bolt patterns are the same, but most 740's have bigger front brakes, and the 240 wheels won't fit over them.

are you sure about those 185/65-14 on the 740 ? most 740/940's are 15", my 92 came with 195/60-15 (I'm currently running 205/55-16 on optional hydra wheels)

14" will fit on cars w/out ABS, 15" will fit all RWD until late 960.
A '90 740 should have ABS so a 14" wheel won't fit the front wheels.

Okay, the 740 has 15" wheels, not 14".
Pierce was right, as usual.
Thanks, all, for your replies.

740 came with 14" wheels for most of their run, 1984 to 1992. Once the ABS became standard, around 1989, 15" wheels were standard. ABS brakes are the determinant factor as to whether 14" wheels will fit.
