Default 240 starts,runs, NO GO!

working on a 9/83 240 series manual trans 4spd w/od. Starts and runs fine, but put it in gear and let out the clutch and nothing happens. No strange noises, no change in rpm, nothing. My mother was driving it and said it worked fine, then just wouldn't go, had it towed home.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply tech!

My knowledge of Volvos is limited, so I may not understand this system exactly, but wouldn't a cable system fail with the clutch engaged? I have not been able to look at the car, just relaying what my dad has told me over the phone.

I do appreciate your input!

If for some reason it went to tight you will still have a pedal and it wouldn't release enough for it to move.
