Default 740 Brake Shimmy

I haven't found this exact subject yet but excuse if it's a repeat. Must be common. How can I ensure that the next brake job lasts? It seems that I'm really going thru rotors and pads. Two years ago I switched over to the new wheel bearing and hubs w/ detachable rotors. I also got new ball joints, and new struts. The mechanic (Star motors in Houston) did a poor job with the labor and I had to go back three time for 1) defective bearing(?) 2) pads paid for but not installed 3) pads missing spring to keep in place. Now, after a brake job last year with new calipers, new pads, new hoses, new rotors (at the Swiss Garage) I have the worst brake shimmy ever? My tires are nice Michis with 45k and they look good. Car tracks straight. A bit of vibration from the drivetrain but not severe.
Should I go back to the old style hub/rotor combo? Is there an aftermarket rotor that is made from better material and maybe a bit thicker? Do I have to do this myself to get it right? What else could cause a brake to eat rotors like this?

Thanks

There are many things that play into rotors warping.Hard brake pads,Driving in the rain and the brakes are hot then hitting a puddle,Riding the brakes hard and overheating them.

Alot of people don't agree with ne on this issue.I always buy the softest brake pads.I don't care if I have to replace them more.It feels better braking and is easier on the rotors.

Maybe try a softer pad with new rotors.
Were all the parts you put on Volvo parts?

I really don't know where the parts came from. Swiss Garage is a reputable euro auto repair shop but I just didn't ask. I suppose I should take the wheels off and inspect the area before going in for another brake job? Wiggle the wheel with tire on to check the bearings? Take a look at the ball joints to see if one is loose or something? See if the pads are worn even? Otherwise I'm not sure what else to check. Could slop in the steering system lead to vibration during braking? The steerig seems pretty tight but sometimes, when I'm on a rough dirt driveway (at very slow speeds) it feels/sounds like something is knocking back and forth very slightly. Maybe nothing. Anyway... I would like to buy better parts if possible. Does someone make aftermarket wheel bearing that are better quality? Can I buy better rotors that might be tougher? I like the idea of softer pads. What brand/model would you suggest and where can I get them?

Loose bearings or something like that could cause a vibration while braking.
Aftermarket rotors might be a little better.
When I buy my pads I tell them I want the softest pad they have.
Aftermarket bearings are about the same quality.
