87 240 AT rear trans seal
Well it looks like mine has finally given out. It decided it didn't want to go into overdrive the other day, and after checking the fluid levels and finding them low I got under the car and the rear of the trans is soaked, as well as the driveline.
I have a new seal but am not sure of the driveline removal process as it doesn't look like a slip yoke type like I was previously accustomed to.
Advice and how to proceed from someone that's been down this road would be very helpful as I like to do things right the first time.

It's pretty straight forward. Remove the 4 flange bolts on the rear of the transmission and drop the drive shaft down. Note I usually mark the flange to make sure I put it back the same way. Now with the transmission in park remove the large nut on the tail shaft and pull out the spline tail shaft. Then just pop the seal out and put in the new seal. I use a piece of pipe and a rubber hammer to install but there are various ways of doing this. Put a little tranny fluid on the seal and insert the tail shaft. Reverse the process and you're done. Depending on the mileage (I change tranny fluid every 50K) drain the tranny and replace filter and fluid. I have a lift so it takes me maybe an hour to do the whole job.
